Meet out wonderful UBC Emergency First Responders. These folks range from their first through fifth year of study and are come from all different faculties and disciplines. Some have joined the team as early as this past September, while other seasoned veterans have been around since the team began in 2015. Many of these folks are joining the first response field for the very first time, while are a handful that has been involved from a prior volunteer or paid opportunities.
If you’re thinking about joining UBCEFRT, you too could sport these awesome red shirts and exciting trauma packs. We accept folks who are interested and passionate; we don’t look at your academic discipline or average, and the amount of experience (or lack thereof) you have in a first response field doesn’t directly correlate to whether you’ll be successful in the programme. While there are some opportunities that may cater to the academic pursuits of HKin, Nursing, or Med School destined students (like covering sporting events, large SUO and SUP events, etc.), we ensure the programme is inclusive of everyone.
If you see our team around campus in these red t-shirts, jackets, or hoodies, don’t be afraid to come ask us about the programme. And if you want to join, take a look at our page on “Joining the Team.”
